Growing up in Perth and moving to Torquay in 2014, Melanie traded the warm Perth sun for a different coastal feel. Continuing her career in the Financial Services Industry in Geelong, Mel was captivated by the amazing local community and the endless organisations offering support and opportunity. With a drive to help others, she decided to volunteer her spare time and get involved with the amazing community. Continuing her volunteering is when she joined the GYP as a committee member, and also became a volunteer for the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES). After about 4 years, she decided to also direct her career to the Emergency Services by using her engagement and networking skills to work with the community, to build resilience in dealing with emergencies. When Mel isn’t working or volunteering, she enjoys hiking, catching up with friends over a glass (or two) of wine, and spending time at the beach.
I’m inspired by people who have passion and drive, and love what they do. Also by people who dedicate their lives to helping others.
I relax by exercising outdoors, or reading a great book.
I’m happiest when sitting in the sunshine with friends sipping on wine and snacking on cheese.
When I was little I always wanted to be a veterinarian.
My big dream now is to have a successful career and be a great role-model & mentor to those around me.
My dream holiday destination is anywhere warm and sunny, preferably on the coast.
Highlight of my career so far was Joining GYP!
